Jolly Brewer

The Jolly Brewer which is one of the place we went for Open mic Night every wednesday have been up and running for several years now and have won the CAMRA award this year making it the second year in the last three years that they have won this real ales award and they also won community pub of the year award 2013. The Jolly Brewer is run and owned by Emma Chapman who we interviewed about the Jolly Brewer itself, and about the open mic nights that are held weekly in there. We also got two more people from the Jolly Brewer to represent a different side of the open mic night side, which is Spoken Word. Spoken word night is a newly set up night that has more of a niche audience that come only for spoken word rather than music like on open mic night, spoken word night was set up and started thanks to one of Emma Chapman’s Friends called Rebecca Green who now runs the spoken word night, Payal Reichert also joined us live on air with some of her poetry which we didn’t get time to ask her on air why she enjoyed it but if you ever wish to see her again she is at every spoken word night.

Here is the audio we recorded about the Jolly Brewer, some of it was played on our show there are also some extras in here. Enjoy:
